Jo Carby, Chief Executive of Wigan & Leigh Hospice, said: “Being chosen as Wigan Warriors’ Charity of the Year for their 2025 season is a big honour, and it’s all the more special knowing the impact our services have had on Liam Marshall and his family.
“Like Wigan Warriors, Wigan & Leigh Hospice is rooted in this community and it is the community’s support that continues to keep our services going. Every year, hundreds of families like Liam’s are supported by the hospice, and we know what a difference our services make.”
She added: “Having the support of Wigan Warriors will mean a lot to so many of our patients, volunteers and staff. The new kit looks fantastic, and the tribute to Liam’s mum, Debbie, makes it all the more special. The Warriors have an exciting season ahead and we’re thrilled that the hospice is going to be part of it.”
Chief Executive Kris Radlinski, said: “Liam is the heartbeat of our club, his spirit and passion uplift us all. When he’s hurting, we all feel it deeply. The strength he showed in 2024, even as he went through such a challenging time, speaks volumes about his incredible character.
“We wanted to do something meaningful for him and his family, to help keep his mum’s memory alive in a way that would matter. The amazing angels at Wigan & Leigh Hospice have touched so many lives in our Community, including ours, and it’s an honour for us to support them through 2025.
“This is our way of giving back, of standing together for Liam and everyone who has felt their care.”
