Shaun Wane leads tributes to Peter Moran
Shaun Wane has led the Rfl’s tribute to long-serving national conference league President and mainstay of Wigan St Patrick’s, Peter Moran, who has died aged 76.
England Men’s Head Coach, Shaun Wane said: “Peter Moran was a wonderful man who had time for everybody. Personally he helped me immensely as a young junior finding my way at St Pats and I will only ever remember him as a good man.”
The RFL’s Vice President, Trevor Hunt added: “Peter Moran will be remembered as one of the greatest supporters and advocates of amateur Rugby League. Peter played a crucial role in the National Conference League for more than three decades and has continued to give countless hours of his time to the competition and the amateur game in general.
“Before any of that, Peter was a leading figure in setting up the youth section at Wigan St Pats, which has become renowned through rugby league and even other sports for the number of brilliant players who started their rugby journeys at Clarington Park. RIP old pal.”
Wigan Warriors, alongside The RFL, sends condolences to Peter’s children – Victoria, Anna, Elizabeth and Tom – and to all his family and many friends.
