Davies breaks record as England beat Wales
Wigan Warriors’ Anna Davies scored five tries as England beat Wales in a record 82-0 win at AMT Headingley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The win, which also England record their biggest ever victory also means Stuart Barrow’s England Women’s side have now scored 248 unanswered points in four Tests since their 20-6 defeat by New Zealand in the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2022.
Davies’ five-try haul on the afternoon saw her surpass the record for the most individual tries in a game, previously shared by Emily Rudge and Leah Burke on four.
Liv Wood crossed in the opening five minutes before Isabel Rowe, the Warriors half celebrating her 18th birthday, set up a try for Anna Davies’ first from the boot for an 8-0 advantage.
Paige Travis then crossed for back-to-back tries with Rowe converting both to put England into a commanding 20-0 lead in as many minutes.
Two further scores for Davies followed, with an effort from Eboni Partington sandwiched in between as Davies hit a first half hat-trick, sending England in with a 34-0 advantage at the turnaround.
England were just as rampant in the second forty as Wales struggled to compete with the well-drilled side as debutant Amelia Brown then crossed before Anna Davies added a fourth, converted by fellow Warrior Rowe.
Additional tries were added from Erin Stott and Katie Mottershead before Davies added a record-breaking fifth score, sending England way out on the scoreline to 58-0.
Amelia Brown also completed her debut hat-trick shortly afterwards alongside a score for Hollie-Mae Dodd. Eboni Partington added her second of the afternoon to complete the rout as England won 82-0.
