Vacancy: First Team Physiotherapist
Wigan Warriors are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HCPC and CSP registered physiotherapist to join our dedicated medical team and play an impactful role in the success of our Men’s First Team.
Hours:
Full-time (Includes weekend/bank holiday work).
Salary:
To be determined / Dependent on experience.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Physiotherapy as part of the wider multi-disciplinary performance team and will carry out the following duties to allow them to support the management of the medical department across the Men’s First Team Programme:
- To deliver world class physiotherapy and rehabilitation services to all First Team players, whilst working closely with the wider MDT performance team to ensure all players individual needs are met.
- To utilise support and available resources to help carry out accurate assessments and diagnoses for all First Team players.
- To assist with the development of evidence-based protocols for all areas of physiotherapy care relating to Men’s First Team players, using all available resources including the latest research and in collaboration with clinical specialists.
- To help develop and deliver specific squad wide screening and information capture throughout the season to ensure detailed injury history and the development of current status profiles for each player.
- To analyse relevant data and information from player profiles to help develop and deliver individualised and group-based injury prevention focused training programmes across the first team squad.
- To assist with game day medical cover provisions for all home and away fixtures within the First Team schedule.
- To actively contribute to the development of the medical department, including assisting with the delivery of a club wide CPD programme.
- To continuously maintain medical records in keeping of the CSP and HCPC standards, whilst completing clinical audits and ensuring all standards and regulations are being met.
- To contribute to general departmental management and liaise closely with senior staff across the multi-disciplinary performance team.
The post holder will have a BSc or MSc degree in Physiotherapy and a valid registration with The Health and Care Professions Council and The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. You will hold an enhanced criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of three-years post-graduate experience that includes previous experiencing working full-time within a Rugby League or professional sports team environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills which are crucial to the role along with excellent organisational skills and high problem-solving capabilities.
- Hold a current Level 3 RFU/RFL pitch-side trauma management qualification or equivalent is desirable.
- A comprehensive CPD Portfolio with evidence of interest in sports medicine/sports physiotherapy.
