A Warriors international camp to remember

Wigan Warriors community foundation delivered a memorable international half-term camp which provided children with one-of-a-kind opportunities.
More than 300 children attended our latest October half-term camp at Robin Park Arena, as Community Foundation staff delivered a host of activities to suit an international theme.
To celebrate two England internationals in Wigan last weekend, participants engaged in Q&A’s with England Women’s Head Coach Stuart Barrow and Wheelchair player Adam Rigby, who provided invaluable insights into their careers within the sport.
Ahead of England Men’s return to action at The Brick Community Stadium, Willie Isa, who has represented Samoa through his parents, spoke to children on the strong heritage and tradition Samoans hold. To further embrace Samoan culture, participants learnt and demonstrated The Manu Siva Tau – a Samoan war dance performed by the team before each match.
With more than 130 children singing a continuous rendition of the Junior Nsemba chant whilst England trained at Robin Park Arena, participants were provided with a special and memorable opportunity after the session to meet their heroes on the pitch.
As camp finished with a final visit from a number of England internationals including Mikey Lewis, Victor Radley and Dom Young, many familiar faces from the week took part in our Community Foundation’s pre-game activities before attending the clash at The Brick Community Stadium.

Community Foundation Coach, Tom Little said: “We delivered another fun and busy camp with fresh ideas and new faces which meant our international week went above and beyond for participants.
“The highlight of the week was meeting the England players, as well as learning about Samoa’s culture which made our afternoon tournaments as competitive as they have ever been before.”
Schools Education Manager, Scott Rafferty said: “We’re really proud to provide another week of outstanding holiday provision to the participants of the International Camp. It’s great to be able to give children these unique experiences and provide opportunities to take part in our camps.
“I’d like to thank our coaching team for their efforts over the week as it’s down to their engaging sessions and the relationships they build with the young people in attendance that keeps our numbers so high. I’d like to thank Wigan Council for their continued support with our holiday provision.”
