Harry Smith has described a ‘whirlwind week’ which started with becoming a father and ended with back-to-back League Leaders’ shields.
Harry, and his partner Chloe, welcomed baby Leo into the world less than 24 hours after the Warriors beat Leeds Rhinos at The Brick Community Stadium.
Reflecting on a special week, Smith said: “It’s been a whirlwind of a week trying to get sleep, but I managed a lie in yesterday morning which was nice. It’s been an amazing experience becoming a father and I’ve really enjoyed the first week which is a credit to my partner, Chloe. To get on the right side of the result tonight and win the League Leaders’ was the cherry on top of the cake.”
Speaking through his preparation for the clash against the Red Devils, Smith said: “I spoke to Matty about coming in a bit earlier to do my gym work as there was still an important game to prepare and train for. It was nice to a part of the game as well as the whole week. When you get nights like tonight in the way we played and celebrated with our fans and families, it makes it all worth it.”
On lifting successive League Leaders’ Shields, Smith said: “We spoke this week about how this Club hadn’t achieved back-to-back League Leaders before so to be able to add a further bit of history on top of what we’ve already achieved this year is amazing. We just want to keep creating and experiencing these moments with our teammates.”
Looking towards the week ahead, Smith said: “We’ll be going on a three day camp next week for some good, solid training and team bonding. We won’t be resting on our morals as we’ll be putting in the work but a week without a game is always nice on the body. Hopefully we’ll be fresh and able to put our best foot forward in the semi-finals.”
