Wigan Warriors Women’s full-back Grace Banks previews Friday’s game against Leeds Rhinos at The Brick Community Stadium.

Reflecting on the season under Denis Betts, full-back Banks said: “It’s been different but in a good way and I think everyone can see the impact he’s had this season. To compete with the top three was one of our main aims, so the win over York earlier in the season who we haven’t been able to get close to for a few years shows some good progression this season.”

Friday’s game will be another double-header at The Brick Community Stadium with fans able to watch both Women’s and Men’s First teams take to the field to face the Rhinos: “I think it’s really good to push Women’s Rugby League in the way the Club are doing. Taking to the field before the Men’s game brings the fans in and it’s a big advocate for us as a squad.

“Having young girls there watching us on the main pitch is great but also great for us to look out and see them cheering us on as well.”

She added: “The first time we played there when we faced Barrow there were some nerves and you could tell, but this is the third time now playing at The Brick Community Stadium so we’re a bit more settled in that big stadium environment and hopefully we can put on a good performance in front of the fans.”
