Wigan Warriors Women’s Head Coach previews Friday’s double-header clash against Leeds Rhinos at The Brick Community Stadium.

Friday’s fixture will be the Warriors Women’s third double-header fixture of the year at The Brick Community Stadium as both Warriors First Teams welcome Leeds Rhinos. On the ‘big stadium’ experience, Betts said: “We’ve been really lucky this year, we’ve played on some fantastic stadiums this year. It feels like we’ve not been at home much, we’ve only played a couple here at Robin Park but we’ve managed to be on The Brick Community Stadium a couple of times already.

“We’ve played at St Helens, Leeds, York, Huddersfield – all on the main stadiums this year and the girls have really enjoyed that aspect of where the game is going.”

The Warriors enter the fixture in fourth place, but will be hoping for a final round win to bolster their league standings: “We’ve finished fourth the last couple of years, played in semi-finals and just not got there. A big step for this year is to see if we can finish that little bit higher up the table and the game on Friday gives us the chance to do that and push for a third place spot.”

On this week’s opponents Leeds Rhinos, Betts said: “We’ve played Leeds twice this year and both times they’ve managed to get the better of us.

“We’ve learnt some lessons over the last couple of games against them which we’ll be hoping to transfer into the game on Friday night. We’ve come out of a really tough game against York on Sunday but it’s about dusting ourselves down, not changing too much and turning up to perform.”

Betts finished with an update to his squad: “We’ve been lucky over the past few weeks with injuries and managed to get some girls back who are starting to find a bit of form. We have lost Rease Casey through a knee injury for the rest of the year.”
