  • FT | Wigan Warriors 24-20 Hull KR.

Matt Peet has reflected on the Warriors’ Betfred Super League victory over Hull KR at The Brick Community Stadium.

The Warriors scored 18 unanswered points after the hour to claim an important two points which takes Wigan back to the top of the Betfred Super League table.

Sharing his thoughts on the result, Peet said: “I thought it was a great game, right from the start. The atmosphere and the event the Club created brought a good feeling about it, and both teams delivered. It was an 80 minute arm wrestle from which both teams will go home hungry to learn and improve. I just thought it was a good, entertaining game between two competitive teams which could have gone either way.”

On the performance, Peet said: “Hull KR were certainly the better team in the first half and we had to improve to get back into it. There was stuff in the first half we did well, but I just think we went wrong in a few fundamental areas of our defence. Credit to Hull KR and some of the stuff they were doing. They’re a Club and a team on the up who have a lot to be proud of.”

On Patrick Mago’s performance, Peet said: “That’s what Patrick’s capable of in that role that he has. Sometimes he plays more minutes but it’s more about the timing of the introduction and what he does. He carried strong but he also had some nice touches with the ball as well. He brought the crowd into the game and was that point of difference along with Tyler. When we’re on the front foot and time them changes right, they can be really influential which it proved.”

Praising Junior Nsemba, Peet said: “Junior was very, very good. Early on in the game he hit a line with bodies in front of him but he came out the other side after good contact. He was just a menace all night. He deserves all the praise he is getting.”
