Matt Peet has shared his excitement ahead of Friday night’s top of the table clash against Hull KR.
More than 15,000 tickets have already been sold for the highly anticipated Betfred Super League Round 25 battle which sees two sides level on points meet at The Brick Community Stadium.
Looking ahead to the match, Peet said: “I’m excited and certainly looking forward to Friday night. Playing in front of an electric atmosphere in what hopefully is a full stadium is what you want and what Super League deserves. It certainly brings the best out of the players.”
On emotions ahead of the clash, Peet said: “In some aspects you’ve just to keep trying to learn and improve from last week’s performance whilst preparing for the game ahead. The players are excited so we want to tap into what excites them and how that can bring our performance to another level. It’s about finding the balance.”
On facing Hull KR, who sit top of the table on points difference, Peet said: “They deserve all the credit they’re getting. They’ve been really consistent, they’ve been excellent both sides of the ball and they’ve been good to watch. They’ve worked hard on and off the pitch to earn what they’re enjoying.”
On the League Leaders’ Shield, Peet said: “It’s a great indicator of consistency, depth in squad and quality of preparation. It’s still an unbelievable achievement and whichever team wins it will be really proud. Those that don’t, their attention will quickly shift to the play-offs.”
Speaking on the remaining matches, Peet said: “The business end is what we work for and now we’re entering the last and most exciting stage. Everything you do from pre-season and throughout the year is all done for these big games.”
On improvements, Peet said: “We just want to play better than what we have been doing as we don’t feel like we’ve shown the best of us for a little bit. I can see some positive signs in our momentum building and our confidence growing, so we are just hoping to take another positive step in the right direction.”
Praising his squad, Peet said: “I’m proud of the whole squad. We’ve had individuals who have had to step in earlier or more often than we might have predicted and now we’re all better with that experience. One of the up sides to having players missing is that you get to learn about the next crop – our squad looks so much thicker now those lads have proved themselves at this level.”
