Report

Wigan were quickly off the mark as Molly Jones opened the scoring after just three minutes, going over at the corner after Grace Banks sent the centre away. Isabel Rowe converted for an early 6-0 advantage.

Molly Jones looked to go over almost immediately after but was held-up over the line. Wigan’s persistence did pay though as Anna Davies then extended the lead just four minutes later as she collected a great looping pass from Rowe to dive over in the corner. The conversion from out wide came back off the uprights as it stood 10-0.

On the 15 minute mark Isabel Rowe added another six points with a converted score after shooting under the sticks at pace before Grace Banks crossed on the outside after some good passing play to make it 20-0 at a point per minute rate.

Ellise Derbyshire then went over in the 24th minute after backing up a break from Eva Hunter to race down the left edge and cut inside which Isabel Rowe improved to make it 26-0 in Wigan’s favour.

Another quickfire double followed as Grace Banks finished off a one-two passing move with Anna Davies on the right before Eva Hunter added to the score sheet, easing through a gap to see the Warriors at 36-0.

The final act of the half saw prolific try scorer, Anna Davies, add her second of the afternoon with a break from inside her own half with Rowe converting once more to see the teams in at 42-0.

Wigan started the second half just as quickly as Isabel Rowe sent Ruby Hunter bursting through the defensive line to score. Rowe converted to make it 48-0.

Anna Davies registered her hat-trick try on 45 minutes, picking up a stray pass on her own 10m line to race the length of the field to touch down – her 21st try of the season. Rowe struck the two again before adding a second converted try of her own with a show and go effort with a turn of pace to make the score 60-0 four minutes later.

The Warriors continued to dominate in attack as Cerys Jones came off the interchange bench to increase the lead with her first try for the Club with a crash ball close to the uprights before Banks added her hat-trick on the hour as Rowe converted both tries to make the score 72-0.

Ruby and Eva Hunter both crossed in the closing stages to round off an impressive win which takes the Warriors second in the Betfred Women’s Super League table.
