Matt Peet praised his side after the Warriors claimed a hard-fought betfred super league victory over Catalans Dragons in perpignan.

The Warriors scored tries through Jai Field, Tom Forber, Junior Nsemba and Adam Keighran to claim an important two points which takes Peet’s side back level on points at the top of the table.

On the victory, Peet said: “It’s very pleasing as it’s always a tough game when you come here to play Catalans on their own patch. Catalans were excellent in the first half but the players managed to come over the top of that. There were times in the second half where we were spirited defensively and where our commitment to one another was excellent.”

Speaking on his half-time team talk, Peet said: “It was very basic. We thought the main threats were the contact area and the kick chase game which proved to be a threat at the end. This is the kind of game that can bring the team together and get us on a run that we can enjoy.”

Bevan French returned from a hamstring injury to start for the first time since Round 16, and on his performance, Peet said: “He built his way into the game and started to threaten more as time went on. He was frustrated with some of his errors but I admired his strong defence and the way he applied himself in his effort areas. He bring so much to us and there is still plenty more to come.”

Looking ahead to Friday night’s top of the table clash against Hull KR, Peet said: “Hull KR are playing fantastic – they’re the form team in the competition. We don’t want to move on too fast but you can’t help get a little excited for next week.”

Peet added: “The way we defended kicks will have to improve and there were some things in the contact area that we can tidy. We came up against some very strong ball carriers and Hull KR will bring similar threats so it will be more fundamental things we focus on than anything too complicated.”
