Wigan got off to a flying start as full-back Noah Hodkinson crossed after six minutes with Wigan running the ball on the last play to find their reward, the effort was converted by Nathan Lowe.
On 18 minutes a looping ball from Charlie Yeomans out wide to Josh Cartwright saw Wigan go over for the try. The ocnversion was missed from Lowe but the referee awarded a penalty for a foul on Cartwright during the act of scoring which Lowe slotted over from in front of the posts to make it 12-0.
Shortly before the interval Jaiden Drachenberg then crossed out wide, though the conversion was missed and it was 16-0. However, Warrington went over on the hooter as the Wolves ran it well to send James Duffy over to see the teams in at 16-4 at the turnaround.
Warrington went back-to-back as Pat Irwin scored fifteen minutes into the second under the posts with Sergent converting. Wigan responded immediately though as Finlay Yeomans broke the defensive line to score just to the right of the posts as Nathan Lowe added the conversion to make it 22-10.
The Wolves hit back with two tries in the last 10 minutes from Daniel Regan and substitute Alfie Mather but with the penultimate try not converted it left Warrington trailing by two.
Wigan did enough to hold on for the final two minutes to take the win that sees them to a second placed finish and confirming a home play-off semi-final tie (Dates and Times TBC).
