  • FT | Wigan Warriors 22-4 Hull FC.

jACK fARRIMOND REACTED TO wIGAN wARRIORS’ 22-4 Betfred Super League VICTORY AT HOME TO hULL fc.

Farrimond scored the Warriors’ fourth and final try to seal victory at The Brick Community Stadium, having also crossed a week prior at Magic Weekend in the Cherry and Whites win over St Helens, where he was awarded the Man of the Match award for his performance.

On the victories, Farrimond said: “I think the performance last weekend set us off on the right foot towards the back end of the season, building on what we know what we’re capable of – I think we’ve hit that for 60, 70 minutes today and there was just a 10 minute period where we dropped off, but other that I thought we were good.”

The half-back’s try came courtesy of some quick thinking from hooker Kruise Leeming, who spotted an overlap and quickly played in Farrimond to neatly step past the Hull defence for the score: “Obviously you’re happy every time you get over the try-line, but I’ll put that one down to Kruise (Leeming) spotting one over on the right edge”, said Farrimond. “All I had to do was put the ball down really, so credit to Kruise on that one.”

The 19-year-old was one of the four Warriors Academy graduates that scored for the Warriors on Sunday afternoon, with Jacob Douglas, Zach Eckersley and Junior Nsemba also crossing to help Matt Peet’s side on their way to victory.

On the pathways for young players into the First Team at Wigan Warriors, Farrimond said: “It’s a credit to what the Club does bringing the young lads through, and it just shows that the coaches further down the system get you ready for when Matt (Peet) needs you and when you’re called upon.

“It’s a credit to all the coaches to have that trust to pick us and play us, and when we help get results like today it’s pleasing for everyone.”

The Cherry and Whites head to the South of France to face Catalans Dragons next weekend, signalling Farrimond’s first time playing overseas for the Warriors. Looking ahead to the game, Farrimond said: “I’m really excited, it’s another new experience going out there.

“I’ve been speaking to some of the more experienced lads who have been out there before and trying to get some tips off them and obviously there’s the warm weather too, so hopefully it will be another good run out.”

On learning from every week, Farrimond added: “I think I’ve only played two or three teams twice so far, so it’s a new experience pretty much every time I get out on the pitch. It’s nice to get those experiences, feed off that and keep working.”
