Summer Warrior Camp Diaries: James and Emily
With the final week on our summer warrior camp underway, james and emily highlight their favourite themes.
Each day on our Summer Warrior Camp has a different theme for our participants to engage with! Across three weeks on camp attendees have taken part in themes including Olympics, State of Origin, Community Club Challenge and Magic Weekend, all delivered with a rugby league twist.
Regular camp attendee James added:
“Previously I’ve been on the Winter Warrior Camp and now I’ve spent the whole of the school holidays on the Summer Warrior Camp where I’ve made lots of new friends which has been good. On camp I love playing in the contact matches as well as wheelchair rugby league. I didn’t know Wigan had a Wheelchair team before I came on camp but I’m improving each time – especially conversions which you take using your hand.
“I’ve enjoyed taking part in all the different themes this summer and I’d say my favourite has been the Olympics. Throughout the day we’d do Olympic themed activities but with a rugby league twist – for example we’d use a rugby ball for shotput and javelin.”
Camp debutant Emily wrote:
“I’ve enjoyed taking part in the different rugby drills and games – my favourite part has been learning and practicing tackling. One of the themes was State of Origin where we were all split up [New South Wales Blues and Queensland Maroons] and at each station we visited you could score points for your team.
“I don’t play rugby outside of camp but I’m definitely going to join one soon. I have lots of friends here on camp and I’ll definitely be back on future ones.”
There is still time to book a place for the remaining two days on our Summer Warrior Camp which will include an inflatable fun day and a chance to meet First Team players. Don’t miss out on the fun by securing your place HERE.
