Wigan Warriors recently welcomed young children from the Hunslet Club and Hunslet arlfc to experience a special day during the summer holidays.
More than 30 young children made the journey from South Leeds to Wigan last week for an unforgettable day at Robin Park Arena and The Brick Community Stadium.
As one of the largest youth organisations in the country, the Hunslet Club delivers a wide range of sporting and entertainment sessions each week to young people aged 18 months to 25 years with a purpose of allowing individuals to gain confidence and new skills whilst achieving their full potential.
As part of a Hunslet Club holiday camp, which saw the group visit Warrington Wolves during the Easter break, participants were invited by the Warriors Community Foundation and Wigan Youth Zone to experience an action-packed day of activities at the Club’s facilities.
Upon arriving at the Warriors’ Robin Park Arena, children were given a guided tour of the training facilities before there was an opportunity to take part in our inflatable try scoring and Davanti Tyres passing challenges.
The group headed to The Brick Community Stadium in the afternoon for a tour which included pitch side and tunnel access as well as a visit to the press room where individuals answered questions based on scenarios whilst sitting in the hot seat.
Speaking on the day, Warriors Community Foundation Coach Tom Little: “It was great to welcome the Hunslet Club to Wigan Warriors for the day. It was great to have non-rugby and rugby backgrounds visit the the Club to receive an insight into life here and the atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic.
“The kids and the staff in attendance had a great time and we hope to see the Hunslet Club come back to enjoy one of our game day experiences.”

Chris Boyce, Sports Manager at the Hunslet Club, added: “We were promised an amazing day for our children and the Club delivered on that promise. From the moment we arrived the kids couldn’t believe what the facilities were like and they loved the insight into how the team train and use the facilities.
“All children enjoyed taking part in the activities which showed the competitive nature in them. I would like to thank Tom, his staff, and Wigan Warriors for allowing us to come over and visit.”
Theo, who attended from the Hunslet Club, said: “I really liked the tour of both the training ground and the stadium. I learnt about how players recover after training and matches, and my favourite activity from the day was the Davanti Tyre passing challenge.”
