Kruise Leeming has shared his Magic Weekend memories ahead of Saturday’s derby against St Helens at Leeds’ Elland Road.
Whilst Leeming is yet to play for the Warriors in a Magic round, the hooker has made five appearances for Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos at the league’s annual showpiece event.
Since his first outing from the interchange bench for Huddersfield in 2015, to scoring a try and a match-winning drop goal for Leeds on his last in 2021, Leeming will be looking to add Elland Road to his list of Magic Weekend venues alongside Newcastle’s St James’ Park and Liverpool’s Anfield.
On Magic Weekend, Leeming said: “I haven’t lost at Magic so they’ve all been good memories. What a sport we’ve got that whilst there is fierce rivalry on the field, all fans can sit together and enjoy the games – that makes us proud as players.”
The Warriors take on St Helens in the second of three matches to be played on Saturday, which also sees London Broncos face Hull FC before Leeds Rhinos go up against Warrington Wolves.
On facing St Helens, Leeming said: “It’s going to be another tough and physical game. We want to get straight back into the cut and thrust of it and what a great way to do it at Magic Weekend in front of a packed out house against our biggest rivals. This is just what we need as a group.”
The Warriors will be aiming to bounce back from a defeat at Leeds Rhinos last time, on which Leeming said: “When you’re winning every week it’s good, but from these games you learn a lot of valuable lessons. Every game we’ve played this year we’ve tried to take something that will make us improve and a better team – we will do the same from Leeds.”
