Warriors host latest PDRL Festival

Wigan Warriors hosted the latest Physical Disability Rugby League Festival at St Jude’s ARLFC on Sunday.

The fifth round of PDRL Festival’s came to Wigan as the Warriors hosted Bradford Bulls, Castleford Tigers, Hull FC, Hull KR, Leeds Rhinos, Salford Red Devils, Wakefield Trinity and Warrington Wolves.

Each side competed in two matches as part of the Festival, in which Gary McKeown and Aarron Vose scored tries for the Warriors against Castleford Tigers and Warrington Wolves.

The Warriors’ opening match against Castleford was stopped due to a head injury to Dean Davies. After receiving treatment on the pitch, Dean was taken to hospital and has since been discharged with a return to play to be carried out in line with the RFL guidelines.

Speaking on the Festival, Disability and Inclusion Manager Jack Corless said: “This Festival gave us the chance to showcase to Wigan how much PDRL has grown over the past few years.

“The Festival was contested in high spirits from all teams with all players giving their all for their badges. The Warriors are in a strong position heading into Finals Day next month, with all our players ready for the challenge.”
