- FT | Wigan Warriors 28-6 Leigh Leopards.
Adam Keighran reacted to Wigan Warriors’ victory over leigh Leopards at the brick community stadium on Tuesday night.
The Warriors ran in five tries on the night with Keighran converting four from the tee – including one of his own – as Matt Peet’s side climbed back to the top of the Betfred Super League table with victory.
Following the win, Keighran said: “Obviously getting the win at home is a good thing anyway, but it’s a bit of a rivalry we have too, so it’s good to get it over them and turn a bit of form around. It’s great in that sense.
“Our intent was to come out, start well, and set the tone – I think we did that”, said Keighran. “They got a bit of a roll on in the second half, but I felt like we controlled it back and ended up getting over it – we’re happy with it.”
Keighran’s try came courtesy of some quick-thinking from half-back Harry Smith, who ran round the back of a Warriors scrum to play a reverse ball to the centre who used his speed to evade the defenders before crashing over under the posts.
On his try, Keighran said: “I actually didn’t really know what was happening to be honest. I’ve just come under, it’s worked out well and I was happy to get the four points.”
The Warriors travel to West Yorkshire on Saturday to face Leeds Rhinos in Round 21 of the Betfred Super League, which will be Wigan’s third match in nine days.
Looking ahead to the clash, Keighran said: “Leeds are a top side. Travelling out there is tough and playing at their home ground is going to be even tougher, but we’re looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s that point in the season where you have to start stringing some good games together as we start to lead into the back end of the competition.”
