  • FT | Wigan Warriors 28-6 Leigh Leopards.

Matt Peet praised his side’s performance following wigan warriors’ win over leigh leopards at the brick community stadium.

Reflecting on the win, Peet said: “It was a tough test. I knew we’d have our hands full against a strong Leigh team who have been in really good form. I was made up with our start and then we applied pressure on our own game and managed score a few points.”

Peet added: “We played a real simple game, we had discipline in what we did, and fortunately the opportunities were there.”

Junior Nsemba scored the first of five tries in the victory, and on the forward, Peet said: “He’s playing well, he’s a physical handful and he’s learning all the time. Things opened up for him and I’m pleased to see he had the confidence to take it – he deserved it.”

Kruise Leeming played the full 80 minutes and was named Player of the Match in the win, and on the hooker, Peet said: “I agree he was Man of the Match. I know he had some nice moments with the ball but I just thought his work rate in defence and his commitment to that side of the game was outstanding.”

The Warriors returned to the top of the Betfred Super League table following the win, on which Peet said: “I like what we’ve learnt. There will be more twists and turns so we’ve got to concentrate on ourselves and trying to improve on a daily basis. There will be plenty that we learn from tonight and that’s all that we will talk about.”

On recovery ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leeds Rhinos, Peet said: “The lads have just played a physical game so we’ve got to continue looking after them. They’re heading straight into cryotherapy now so hopefully we will get them in the best possible shape.”
