Match Report as Wigan Warriors Women run in 12 tries to beat Huddersfield Giants Women to nil for a second time this season.

The Warriors, who beat Huddersfield Giants 102-0 in a record breaking win at John Smith’s Stadium earlier in the season, once again started with intent as they scored after just 3 minutes with Rease Casey diving over from close range, with Isabel Rowe converting for 6-0.

Just five minutes later Wigan added another score taking full advantage of an overlap on the right edge for Anna Davies to go over and make it 10-0.

Kaitlin Hilton added Wigan’s third of the day as she spotted a gap in the Giants defence, the effort converted by Rowe to put Wigan out to 16-0 in as many minutes.

A fourth try soon followed as Mary Coleman got on the scoresheet. Huddersfield’s Goddard got a tackle in on the second rower but Coleman had the power to get over and confirm the score. Rowe added the two for 22-0.

Full-back Grace Banks was the fifth name to be added to the scorers as more space in the Giants’ defence was exploited by a rampant Wigan attack. Rowe was on target once more and it was 28-0.

The Warriors added a sixth effort after the half hour as Jenna Foubister extended the lead with a determined run towards the goal line to get the ball down. The final act of the half saw Grace Banks add a second to her tally with Rowe improving both scores from the tee to send Wigan in with a 40-0 lead at the break.

It took Wigan just three minutes into the second half before they scored again, as Academy graduate Ruby Hunter – who was impressive in the Nines Finals a week prior – crossed on her senior debut for the Club. Rowe was on target with the extras as the Warriors hit 46-0.

Anna Davies added her second of the afternoon just a few minutes later as a tricky kick over the top was allowed to bounce straight into the hands of the winger to use her pace and get over. Rowe added an eighth conversion to make it 52-0.

Ellise Derbyshire scored Wigan’s ninth effort as she rounded the Giants’ defensive line before cutting back inside to go in under the sticks with an easy conversion for Isabel Rowe putting Wigan out to 58-0 before Jenna Foubister earned herself a brace, which again was converted for 64-0.

Anna Davies was denied a hat-trick score on the hour as Huddersfield’s Ana Da Silva stopped the Warriors winger from getting over in the corner, before the Giants’ themselves were denied as the only real chance of the fixture saw Ruby Tyson held-up.

Ellise Derbyshire wrapped up the proceedings from within her own half as she raced away for the final score of the game. Isabel Rowe added an 11th conversion from a possible 12 to confirm the 70-0 victory for the Warriors as they earn another two points in Betfred Women’s Super League.
