  • FT | Wigan Warriors 4 – 40 Warrington Wolves.

Matt Peet spoke to the press following Wigan Warriors defeat at home to Warrington Wolves on Friday night.

Liam Marshall’s first-half try stood as the only points for the Warriors on the night, who were 18-4 down at half-time before conceding four more Warrington tries after the break.

On the defeat, Peet said: “It’s a tough one to take. Obviously the scoreline doesn’t look good and there were aspects of our performance that certainly don’t look good. Credit to Warrington, they executed much better than we did and deserved the win.”

Despite back-to-back defeats for the Warriors, Peet insisted he and the team will still embrace the busy period ahead: “It was always going to be a tough challenge, it was always going to be a challenge for all of us all the same”, he said. “If we had won tonight it would have still looked like a tough week.”

On the learning experience from Friday’s loss, Peet said: “It’s a tough school for the young players in there – that isn’t an excuse, but there’s some lads who will learn a lot from tonight. We’ll all learn from it.”

When asked whether he is confident the Warriors will bounce back from the two defeats, Peet said: “I’m always confident in the group, in the Club, in the staff, so nothing changes really. The confidence remains the same as always.”

Next up for the Warriors, it’s back home next Thursday night for Blue Night Light as we take on Huddersfield Giants in Round 20.
