Georgia Wilson spoke to Wigan TV ahead of Friday’s Betfred Women’s Super League derby clash against St Helens Women at The Brick Community Stadium.

On settling back into the team since returning from Australia, Wilson said: “I’ve played with a lot of the girls who have been here since 2018 and some of the young girls have really stepped up and they are the next level.

“They’re unreal and I’m really happy to be playing alongside them and I’m lucky and fortunate enough to be selected at the moment week-in, week-out and hopefully with the girls around me I can keep up some good form.”

The Centre summarised Saturday’s win over Featherstone: “It was a bit of a sloppy game actually, 50-0 doesn’t sound like it but made a lot of errors and gave a lot of penalties away. We know now off the back of that, we’ve got some learnings and coming into Friday’s game against Saints we can’t be doing that. We’ve got to focus on our game and what we do rather than what St Helens are going to be doing.

“It was a really good win, we got some points on the board and now we’re back at the top of the table but we’ve just got to focus.”

On this week’s opponents, St Helens Women, she said: “We know they’re going to be tough, they’re one of the best defences in the league and last time we played them they were solid. We went in at half-time with a lead but we just dropped off a little bit in the second half so we just need to keep that momentum up, practice what we’ve been doing in training and show them what we can do.”

Despite this being Wigan Warriors Women’s second game at their home stadium, if selected it will be Wilson’s first. On the prospect of running out at The Brick Community Stadium this Friday, she said: “I’m really looking forward to it, we’re hoping some of the fans can come down earlier and watch the Women’s Derby too and hopefully we can put on a good show and give people a look at what we’re about.”
