- FT | Castleford Tigers 8-10 Wigan Warriors.
Matt Peet praised his side’s ‘character’ after wigan recorded a 10-8 win over Castleford Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Liam Marshall’s double and two points from Harry Smith saw the Warriors claim full points in West Yorkshire on their return to Betfred Super League action.
Reflecting on the victory, Peet said: “I loved that win – I was really proud of it. Castleford was always going to be a challenging fixture and they came into it motivated and energised after a week off. They gave us a tough game but we showed the character to get over the line.”
Speaking on preparation, Peet said: “We were prepared and ready to go even though we hadn’t trained much. The more time you spend on the training pitch the more combinations settle and improve. There was a lot going on tonight but we got the win.”
On changes to the side, Peet said: “I thought it was a good week to take Junior [Nsemba] out as he’s played a lot of intense and emotional rugby and Sam [Walters] was ready to play as well as Harvie Hill who has been champing at the bit. It’s just the rotation of the squad which is a strength of ours.”
Praising Luke Thompson’s performance, Peet said: “He’s a pleasure to work with. Similar to Liam Farrell what you see out on the field is the product of meticulous preparation and a lot of sacrifice. He’s trained himself in tough conditions to play like that week in week out.”
Looking to the week ahead, Peet said: “Our One Club Night on Monday will be awesome and I encourage anybody to come down and celebrate everyone at the Club. I can’t wait to be back playing at home and we have to make sure that we perform in front of our fans. It’s another exciting week.”
The Warriors are back on home soil next Friday night as London Broncos visit The Brick Community Stadium. Tickets are available to purchase from the Ticket Office and online HERE
