Junior Nsemba is looking forward to ‘a big occasion’ as Matt Peet’s warriors prepare to take on Warrington Wolves in the Betfred Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.
Looking ahead to the Final, Nsemba said: “It’s a big occasion and it’s great to get there with the lads. The boys have been training hard, putting in the hard work and obviously it’s paid off with getting ourselves to a Final so for me personally and the team, we’re happy with that.”
Reflecting on the Semi-Final victory over Hull KR, he said: “In the Semi-Final the boys really turned up for each other, we started right and I think we nailed everything we set out to do in that game.”
The second-rower is looking forward to this weekend’s trip down to London, where a number of his family will be in the crowd: “A lot of my family are coming down to London, it’ll be a good day out for them. Getting around London, Wembley, the atmosphere will be great and for them sitting in the crowd at Wembley Stadium will be great for them supporting the team.
“Two years ago I made my debut and I was on the fringe of the first team, I remember going watching the boys at Tottenham. I didn’t think two-years later I’d be potentially getting an opportunity to play in the Challenge Cup Final.”
Nsemba has made 11 appearances for the Warriors in 2024, scoring four tries. Speaking on his opportunity in the first team he said: “I feel like I’ve done a decent job whilst I’ve been in the team, building that connection with Bevan [French], AK [Adam Keighran] and Abbas [Miski]. It’s good to build that connection with your edges, you know they’ll always turn up for you and I’ll always work hard to turn up for them.
“I chat to Willie [Isa] before and after games and his advice is always just go out there and do what you do. He always reminds me that I am my own player and not to shy away which I always really appreciate from him.”
