Matt Peet has shared his pride in leading Wigan Warriors out in Saturday’s Betfred Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

Reflecting on our Betfred Super League victory at Warrington Wolves last time out, Peet said: “It was a challenging game in which Warrington were very competitive. We were off in some areas but we will take the two points and move on. There’s a few individual things we can look and improve but as a team we’ve turned our attention to the Final really quickly.”

On winning the Betfred Challenge Cup at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2022, Peet said: “It was outstanding. It was such a surreal day which was fantastic for the Club in the way that it ended. The moments after the game between the players and the supporters were unbelievable and we hope to create something similar with this group at Wembley.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s Betfred Challenge Cup Final against Warrington Wolves at Wembley, Peet said: “I’ll feel humbled and proud walking out at Wembley Stadium in front of Liam Farrell and the rest of the team. To be part of that history is very surreal for me but ultimately I want to do the Club proud and have the team prepared the best I can.”

Peet added: “Each Challenge Cup Final has its own story and our motivation is making this Club and the town proud. All our supporters whether they’re at Wembley or not deserve the best of us this weekend – that’s the most important thing.”

Wigan-based St Peter’s Catholic High School will take on Cardiff’s Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf in the Year 7 Boys Champion Schools Final at Wembley Stadium as a curtain-raiser to the Women’s Betfred Challenge Cup Final.

On the Schools Final, Peet said: “St Peter’s are a local school that we’ve got a great relationship with. It’s a fantastic opportunity for all students involved and although they will want to play well, the most important thing is that they enjoy the experience. That’s the same for their opponents at Glantaf who we are great associates with as well.”

Limited tickets remain on general sale for the Betfred Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium this Saturday [8 June]. Supporters can purchase tickets from The Brick Community Stadium Ticket Office or online HERE.
