Georgia Wilson rejoins the Warriors
Wigan Warriors can confirm that Georgia Wilson will rejoin the Warriors with immediate effect for the remainder of the 2024 Betfred Women’s Super League season.
Wilson joined the Club for their inaugural 2018 season where Wigan went on to win the Grand Final – with Wilson scoring a vital try in the 18-16 victory at Manchester Regional Arena.
Over a four-season stint with the Club from 2018 to 2022, Wilson featured as a full back, centre and winger making 43 appearances whilst crossing for 30 tries and kicking 47 goals.
The Cumbrian went to pursue opportunities in Australia at the start of 2023 where she played for Souths Logan Magpies, scoring 3 tries and 16 goals in 7 appearances. Ahead of 2024 she then joined Norths Devils where she has gone on to make five appearances, scoring 3 tries – a hat-trick against former side Souths Logan Magpies and kicking 5 goals.
The versatile back now rejoins the Warriors for the remainder of the 2024 Betfred Women’s Super League season and will take the number 39 shirt. Wilson is available for selection in this weekend’s Round 4 tie against Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Speaking on rejoining the Club, Wilson said:”I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and continue to have in Rugby League. Wigan feels like home to me and I am so honoured to return to this fantastic Club.
She added: “I’ve been watching the girls perform and have seen the squad has developed massively. I’m really excited for the rest of the season with the Club and look forward to representing the Wigan badge again.”
Head Coach Denis Betts added:”It’s fantastic to have Georgia back at the Club. We anticipated for her to come back and play at the back end of our season but she is back here a little bit earlier than we expected.
“Georgia is a quality player with lots of experience and a real love for the Club which is only going to make us better. It is a real bonus that we have her available in the side, especially on the back of some injuries to our outside backs.”
