Women’s Injury Update

  • Denis Betts has offered a Shock Doctor injury update on his Women’s team ahead of the opening round of Women’s Betfred Super League this weekend.
  • Betts confirms Brogan Evans will be out for the remainder of the season.
  • Wigan Warriors Women v Barrow Raiders Ladies, DW Stadium, Friday 19 April, 5.30pm K.O.

Denis Betts has provided an injury update ahead of the Warriors Women’s historic first game at the DW Stadium on Friday night, in association with Shock Doctor.

The Warriors Women went undefeated to top Group 2 in the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup and went on to defeat Cardiff Demons 44-4 to book a Semi-Final spot, with the Warriors confirmed to face Leeds Rhinos in the next round.

Wigan lost Molly Jones in the opening round of the Cup against Salford Red Devils, as the winger suffered a broken collarbone in the act of scoring in the victory. Updating on Jones, Betts said: “Molly has had an operation now to fix her collarbone, we’re hopeful that she can put herself back up for selection in a matter of weeks.”

Wigan will also lose new recruit Brogan Evans for the remainder of the season, with the hooker having sustained an ACL/MCL rupture and meniscus tear in Wigan’s hard-earned win over Barrow Raiders two weeks ago. On Evans, the Head Coach said: “Brogan’s injury is a huge disappointment. She’s started off well, unfortunately she got her knee twisted in the win at Barrow and after having scans it’s a full knee reconstruction, so unfortunately she won’t play again this year.

“It’s a real disappointment and there was some upset when we got the news last week but the recovery starts now for her to get her back on the pitch for us.”
