Smart Energy GB continue partnership with Rugby League

Rugby League Commercial is delighted to extend their partnership with Smart Energy GB for the 2024 betfred super league season.

Smart Energy GB, is an independent, non-profit organisation that helps households and small businesses across Great Britain to understand how smart meters can benefit them, their families and the environment.

After making a big hit with the England Men’s and Women’s teams during last autumn’s internationals, Smart Energy GB will now be recognising the leading metre-maker in every round of the Super League season.

Smart Energy GB will be providing fans with energy-saving tips for their homes, as well as promoting the benefits of using a smart meter – and players from all 12 Men’s Super League clubs have opened up to Smart Energy GB, testing their knowledge on energy usage.

Smart Energy GB will also be working with Rugby League Cares – the sport’s independent charity – helping them to educate people about financial well-being when they deliver their Offload sessions, focusing on mental health across the north of England.

Speaking on the partnership extension, Rhodri Jones, RL Commercial Managing Director, said: “’We are delighted to extend our relationship with Smart Energy GB across all the Super League clubs in 2024.

“Our England Men’s and Women’s teams formed an instant connection with Smart Energy GB in 2023, and it provides us with an opportunity to help our supporters, players and everyone involved in the sport to better manage their energy use.”

Smart Energy GB Head of Specialist Audiences, Christina Panayiotou, added: “The partnership with Rugby League in 2023 was a great success, engaging fans with the benefits of smart meters and how they can help people to manage their energy bills.

“Rugby League is a unique sport which builds tight-knit relationships through the shared love of the game, the players who engage with fans on a regular basis, and the important work of Rugby League Cares in local communities.

“Smart Energy GB is proud to partner with such an organisation, and we are excited to extend this relationship into 2024 where we will continue to work with Super League Clubs, England Rugby League, and Rugby League Cares to ensure that fans and their families have the support and information needed about smart meters, allowing them to budget accurately against their household energy use and play a part in putting Great Britain on the path to net zero.”
