Harvie hill reflected on a ‘special’ night as wigan became betfred world club champions

On the build-up to Saturday’s game, Hill said: “We took the week as a normal week, trying to keep the nerves calm as obviously everyone was excited but we just took it right back to basics, business as usual and just focus on the game.”

He added: “I was trying to keep myself calm until I went onto the pitch. The crowd was packed out so it builds the nerves a little bit, a lot of excitement but it was good.”

The Warriors played out the Betfred World Club Challenge in front of a 24,000 strong sold-out crowd at the DW stadium: “That was the first time I’ve ever played in front of a crowd like that and it was definitely something special.”

The forward also reflected on their opponents on the night, who played out a tough battle against the Warriors: “Penrith are a really good team, they have some great players and I can’t really put it into words – they were a tough opponent to play against.”

Questioned on become a World Club Champion at 20-years old, Hill simply replied: “I haven’t really had chance to think about it yet, I’ll let it sink in then reflect in a couple of days.”
