In Memoriam: Paul Stevens

Wigan Warriors are saddened to learn of the passing of former player, Paul Stevens.

Paul was born on 7 October 1974. He signed for Wigan making his debut on 31st October 1993 against Castleford at Wheldon Road, Castleford alongside Andy Craig and current CEO Kris Radlinski. (Wigan lost 46-0).

He played 6 first-team games for Wigan from season 1993- 94 to 1994-95 primarily as a Winger or Centre.

Paul Stevens scored two tries for Wigan’s first team on 5 December 1993 vs Hull KR and 18 December 1993 vs Warrington. He then made his final Wigan appearance on 19 February 1995 vs Wakefield Trinity at Belle Vue. (Wigan won 20-12).

Wigan Heritage Number 884, Paul also played for London Broncos, Oldham, Rochdale and Swinton. Paul returned to his junior club, Orrell St James’ as an U7s coach in 2013 where continued to be involved right up to his most recent role as Assistant Coach for the U16s where he helped developed the next generation of Rugby League talent.
