Peet named Coach of the month
Wigan Warriors Head Coach Matt Peet has been named August’s Betfred Coach of the Month after a hat-trick of wins.
The Warriors began August with two victories at the DW Stadium, starting with a 64-6 victory over Hull KR before Harry Smith’s drop goal in golden point extra time secured a 13-12 win against Hull FC.
The Cherry and Whites closed the month with an excellent 34-0 win over league leaders Catalans Dragons at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, which closed the gap at the top of the table to two points.
On winning the award, Peet said: “It’s a pleasure to receive the award on behalf of the efforts of the team. Hopefully we can build a decent run of form now.”
It is the second time Peet has won the award this season, with his previous recognition coming for April when Wigan were also unbeaten, including their Good Friday win against St Helens.
The award was presented live on Sky Sports before tonight’s Round 24 fixture against Salford Red Devils at the DW Stadium. The Betfred Coach of the Month is decided by a panel of experts.
