Matt Peet has provided an update on Willie Isa’s injury ahead of Saturday’s Super League clash with Leigh Leopards at the DW Stadium.

Willie Isa, who made his first appearance since Round 12 in Wigan’s Challenge Cup defeat last weekend, will face a spell on the side-line after he was forced off at half time through injury.

Speaking on the injury, Peet said: “Willie has torn his pectoral muscle which is going to need surgery. We can’t define a timeline yet until he’s had his follow up appointment, but it will be months rather than weeks.

“There’s a chance he could be out for the rest of the season, but there’s a chance he could make the back end – it very much depends on the timeline the surgeon gives us the next time we speak, which is imminent.”

Peet added: “It is a tough one because Willie is an important member of the team and we were made up to have him back at the weekend. It was a freak injury to another body part – it’s not meant to be for Willie this year.”

The Warriors will continue to be without the injured Ethan Havard (hamstring), Sam Powell (shoulder) and Mike Cooper (knee).

Speaking on the rest of the squad, Peet said: “It was a very physical and intense game which left some sore bodies, but everybody else will be fit to go at the weekend.”
