Warriors Centre Toby King looks ahead to Thursday’s Round 11 meeting with Hull FC as he says to ‘expect the unexpected’ from Tony Smith’s side.

Toby King made his debut for England at the weekend as he reflected on his debut experience with the international side: “It was really good, we had out training base here at Robin Park Arena so a lot of lads got to come here and see our facilities and the U16s came in trained with us so it was a really great experience for them to come and have a session and a run out against us.

“It’s always nice, it’s a good feeling when you sing the anthems and stuff, all the family come down and it’s a good occasion. Obviously it was a debut this time so that felt even better as well.”

On this week’s opponents, Hull FC, he said: “They’ve been up and down a bit this year but they got probably their best win of the season just before the international break so they’re going to be a tough challenge. It’s always tough to travel away to Hull on a Thursday night, and with Tony Smith in charge – I’ve played under Tony and he’s a brilliant coach and you have to expect the unexpected with him and his team.”

Looking at the Warriors, he added: “We’re looking really good, I think there’s a lot of young talent in this team that seem to be stepping up and I’ve been really impressed with the conveyor belt of young boys coming up and the Academy system here, it’s brilliant. Zach Eckersley, Jacob Douglas, Junior [Nsemba] and Harvie [Hill] we saw a bit of them against Wakefield – Tom Forber too, the list goes on. I think those players will be class for Wigan in the future.”

King also looked ahead to the Warriors Round six Challenge Cup game against Leeds Rhinos which comes later in the month: “We’ve got to focus on it week-by-week. I’d love to get to Wembley with this team but it’s a tough, tough game coming up against Leeds at their place. We’ve got them back-to-back so it’s going to be a big couple of weeks coming up and the road to Wembley starts there.”

Matt Peet also looked ahead to Thursday’s game. Read the full Peet preview HERE.
