Nine Warriors were in loan and Dual reg action over the weekend with three players representing Whitehaven, three lining up for London Broncos and another three featuring for Oldham.

London Broncos 20-21 Sheffield Eagles

An end-to-end game in London saw the Broncos fall short to a late drop goal from Sheffield Eagles. Zach Eckersley started in the Centres, with fellow Warriors loanees Harvie Hill and Ramon Silva utilised off the interchange bench.

Sheffield took a lead in the first minute through Ben Jones-Bishop before Paul Ulberg got the Broncos into the lead in the 19th minute. Jones-Bishop crossed again shortly afterwards to swing the Eagles back into the lead but two tries before the interval for London from Will Lovell and Bill Leyland saw them into a 16-10 lead.

Sheffield responded after the break from Ross Oakes, before London slottted back-to-back two-pointers from the boot of Oliver Leyland to build up a 20-14 advatnage. A converted effort from Titus Gwaze in the dying minutes levelled the scores but Anthony Thackeray stole the points for the Eagles with a successful drop goal in the 76th minute to seal a 21-20 victory.

Whitehaven 20-4 Swinton Lions

Jacob Douglas and Junior Nsemba were in the starting line-up once more for Whitehaven as they recorded a 20-4 victory against Swinton Lions, as Tom Forber also featured off the bench.

It was Swinton who opened the account on the day, as Andy Badrock – who had been denied a few minutes earlier for offside – powered his way over for the opening score. Former Warriors Junior Chris Taylor hit back in response as he struck in the 34th minute to send Whitehaven in with the two-point edge at the break.

The second half saw Whitehaven score 14 unanswered points, as Freeman got their second of the day, converting his own effort before adding a penalty goal to make it 14-4. Freeman was the man of the moment as he ensured a win for Whitehaven with another try in the 68th minute, converting for a 100% record with four from four. Jacob Douglas was unlucky to be denied in the closing minutes as an acrobatic effort was chalked off for a forward pass in the build-up as Whitehaven took the 20-4 win.

Doncaster 28-26 Oldham Roughyeds

Three Warriors appeared on dual registration for partner Club Oldham Roughyeds at the weekend as they were edged out in the Challenge Cup Second Round.

Alex Sutton started at left centre for Oldham, with Kieran Tyrer and Harvey Makin also available on the bench.

Oldham built up a good lead in the opening forty, scoring through Ethan Ferry and Martyn Ridyard. The third of the afternoon saw Alex Sutton away before finding Gregg McNally free in the middle of the field to dive under the uprights.

Wigan dual-registration prop Harvey Makin got himself on the scoresheet as he collected the ball 15 metres out and powered towards the line to add to the Roughyeds tally but Oldham were left to rue a sin-bin as three unanswered Doncaster tries in the second half saw Oldham bow out of the Challenge Cup at the second round.
