Greenmount Girls Development Pathway

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are delighted to announce the dates for our first Greenmount Girls Development Session during February Half term.

The sessions take place during each school holiday and provide an opportunity for junior players to work on their core skill development, alongside Wigan Warriors and England Women’s star Georgia Wilson.

Greenmount Projects Ltd are the founding partner for the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation Girl’s Pathway Programme. The pathway will consist of U12s to U16s development and an U19s academy. The academy will support girls with their final stages of development before progressing into the Wigan Warriors Women’s Super League team. This pathway provides a strong link to the professional setup and supports the development of local community clubs.

Greenmount Girls Development Session:

Friday 24th February:

  • 10:00am – 11:30am Year 7 to Year 11 (U12-U16)

Rugby League Development Manager and Girls Academy Head Coach, John Whalley, said: “These sessions are designed to help the core skill development of the younger players within Community and will be delivered by our experienced development officers from the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation.

“The sessions will run over the course of the year throughout half terms, summer holidays, evenings and weekends and are really important to us at the Club. We want to make these camps fun and enjoyable but it will also give the players an insight to what we do with the girls in our Academy pathway to the Super League team.”

He added: “Greenmount Projects sponsorship has opened the door even further for us to develop the girls pathway, I am looking forward to working with Greenmount over the next couple of year and hopefully beyond and watching these girls development year on year.”
