Girls Academy & Scholarship trials

Wigan Warriors girls Academy and Scholarship will hold open trials to join the Warriors ahead of the 2023 season.

In 2022, Wigan Warriors Women’s Academy played three games, winning all three against Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos and St Helens. The Academy also provided nine debuts for the Wigan Warriors Women’s first team that competed in the Betfred Women’s Super League.

The Club also set up a Wigan Warriors girls scholarship ahead of 2023 and we are looking to recruit players ahead of the season.

U19s

• Date: Tuesday 15th November
• Age: 16+
• Venue: Robin Park Arena
• Time: 6:45pm – 8:45pm

U16s

• Date: Tuesday 22nd November
• Age: U16 (Years 10&11)
• Venue: Robin Park Arena
• Time: 6:45pm – 8:45pm

Speaking ahead of the trials, Women’s Academy and Scholarship Head Coach, John Whalley said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to grow our junior set-up. In 2022 we had nine Academy players make their debut in Betfred Women’s Super League and we look to continue this progression.

“We also had players who progressed to DISE, England Students and England Knights squads. This shows the quality of player that is coming through our development pathway here at Wigan Warriors.”
