Give the players a guard of honour

  • A unique opportunity for fans to see the first team squad walk through the Fan Village ahead of Friday’s game.
  • Players to walk through the Fan Village and to the DW Stadium for the warm-up.
  • Warriors host Catalans Dragons in the final regular game of the Betfred Super League season (8pm K.O.).

There will be a unique opportunity for Wigan fans on Friday night as the playing squad for our game against Catalans Dragons will walk through the Fan Village at Robin Park Arena and over to the DW Stadium ahead of the warm-up before the game.

The players involved in the matchday squad will use the changing room at Robin Park Arena to prepare for the game and then walk through the crowded Fan Village prior to the warm-up on the DW Stadium pitch.

The walk will take place 35 minutes before kick off on Friday night (7:25pm) as Wigan host Catalans Dragons in the final regular game of the 2022 Betfred Super League season. Please note that the game has been moved a day earlier than originally scheduled due to Sky Sports selection (click HERE to read more).

Players will enter the stadium through the South West corner and run straight onto the pitch for the pre-game warm-up. After the warm-up, they will go into the normal stadium changing rooms for the final preparation ahead of kick off.

Around 30 minutes after the final hooter, players will leave the stadium together and walk back through the Fan Village to the changing rooms at Robin Park Arena.

Please note, during the walk there will be flashing lights that could trigger seizures for people with visual sensitivities.

Executive Director, Kris Radlinski, said: “Sport, especially Rugby League, is about passion and emotional connections. Our Robin Park facility has provided us with the ability to connect with our loyal fans on a level that we have not been able to before.

“The game v Catalans will allow the fans to interact with the players in that key period of time just before kick off. I can imagine the noise in the Fan Village as the players slowly make their way across to the stadium ready for battle.

“I would like to thank our staff and players for understanding the need to be adventurous in our approach to the game day experience. I can’t wait to see it.

“This is a thank you to all our fans who have been incredible all year.”
