Coach quotes

Speaking to wiganwarriors.com ahead of the game, Head Coach Kris Ratcliffe said: “It was pleasing and somewhat of a relief to get the win last week and post some points to give our great support something to cheer. We posted over 40 points but still turned over some cheap possession so the focus this week has been on good core skills and trying to ensure we take out opportunities without overplaying.

“York are a top side and we are well aware of what is needed to compete with the top 3 and the fact that they’ll hurt you if you don’t. We are finally starting to get some competition and continuity in our lineups too which is very welcome. We will as always fill those gaps with a couple of our excellent academy prospects who had an outstanding victory against Leeds midweek and will be full of enthusiasm.”

He added: “The girls want to prove that they can compete with the top 3 and step up a level as we move towards finals football.”
