Liam Marshall praised the Warriors execution as Wigan scored nine tries on Thursday night, including a hat-trick for the winger.

Speaking at full time, Marshall said: “The ball was shared out a bit more on either side, it was good to get over for the tries but the win and still being unbeaten at home, it’s good to keep that record up.”

Reflecting on the game, he added: “The first 20 we started well, we stuck to the game plan but we sort of went way from that in the second half of that first half, just sloppy errors and going away from the game plan because we’d scored some tries so Matty let us know that at half time.

“We fixed a few things in the second half, we stripped it back, made things a bit simpler and it was things we’d spoken about in the week and it worked in the second half. Those are the things that will help us in the big games at the end of the year, it’s all good racking up these points and winning the games but we need to embed those things that are going to set us in good stead for the play-off games.”

The winger also gave thanks to the 11,032 supporters inside the DW Stadium after the fixture was moved twice in recent weeks: “The way the schedule works with Rugby League, everyone knows what it’s like. We were hoping for a good day on the Sunday, a bit of a fan day but the fixture change pulled the plug on that. Massive thanks to the fans that turned out in their numbers to make some noise and luckily we could get the win and put on a good show for them.”

Finally, talking us through his three tries on the night, Marshall said: “All three were pretty simple really, credit to the boys inside. It’s something we’ve spoken about in the past week, our execution not being great on the left edge and we took it personal in training.

“We spoke about it as a group and it came off well tonight, the first two executed well with Custy [Cade Cust] for the first one and Faz [Liam Farrell] for the second one. Then Harry’s [Smith] kick was just a nice bounce for me, Matty [Peet] is into me about my kick chase so if I wasn’t up there on the end of it I probably wouldn’t have got the try. All good, can’t complain at a hat-trick.”
