Matt Peet praised his team after a confident win over a depleted Hull KR side on Thursday evening.

“I thought we started okay, we did some decent things in patches but I thought generally it was quite an untidy game,” he said. “Hull KR were depleted so we probably won’t read too much into the performance, we’ll look at some things we did well and move on quick I think and that’ll be the approach this week.”

Bevan French and Liam Marshall both registered hat-tricks in the nine-try haul: “I’m pleased for them both, I think they’re both instinctive finishers with pace to burn. I love the fact Marshy chased back for those efforts last week and stopped that try even though it was only for one play, but he knows I love what he stands for as a player and a person. Bevan is an exciting player but I think Marshy has got outstanding ability and his character is exactly what we’re about as a Club. I love it.”

Mike Cooper also got his first try in Cherry and White on his home debut: “I thought he was very good as well. He’s going to bring some depth through that middle unit and I think he’ll only get better as he gets used to the combinations and some more minutes under his belt. He’s settled in quickly.”

Patrick Mago also notched his first effort for the Club as Peet added in jest: “About time! I think with the power and footwork that he’s got he should be scoring more but if we keep creating opportunities for him, players around him, he’ll get those one-on-ones on the try line.”

Peet also praised the influence of Centres Kai Pearce-Paul and Sam Halsall on the night: “I thought they were pretty good those two. Kai ran really strong and Sam had a hand in a few tries so I think it gives us something to think about going forward, I thought it was a decent performance from the pair of them.

He added: “Sam has been waiting in the wings for a long time, he’s played excellent out on loan and he trains really well for us. Kai is someone that we have played in the Centre in the past and he’s only ever really missed out on the team through injury or illness – he ran powerfully tonight and he’s someone that brings that attacking threat and I think he’ll feature more often than not.”

Finally, Peet gave an update on Sam Powell who left the field due to injury: “It’s going to need a scan, so we’ll have to see. I thought it was his ankle but I’ve been told it’s his foot so we’ll wait and see on that one.”
