  • FT | Wakefield Trinity 22-46 Wigan Warriors.

Matt Peet was pleased with his side as they ran in eight tries to make it four consecutive Super Leage wins at Wakefield Trinity on Sunday afternoon.

At full time, Peet said: “It was certainly a good result, I thought our performance was very professional at the start but at times we didn’t have enough balance in our game. On the whole, to come to Wakefield and come away with the two points is always pleasing.

“I thought at times today we looked really dangerous with the ball, we had pace and plenty of skill in the ball movement. It’s just about getting the timing right.”

Wigan did concede two tries either side of half time though. On his side’s defence, he added: “We don’t like conceding points but we understand why that happened. When Wakefield get opportunities, they’re very clinical, they’ve got a lot of talent in their ball movement. We gave them some opportunities and they showed their capabilities. We’ve been on the other end of a lot of results here over the years.”

On Wigan’s attack, which saw Bevan French, Abbas Miski and Kai Pearce-Paul all claim two apiece, Peet said: “It’s good to have a variety of threats and Bevan is one of them. He’s a player you love to watch, it’s our job as coaches to present him and Jai, Liam and other players enough options with the ball and to use their threat and talents.”

Finally, Matt Peet mentioned Willie Isa, who made his 250th Super League appearance in the game: “We spoke this week about trying to get our performance to be one that was fitting for the way Willie is as a professional. The effort he puts in on a daily basis, he’s selfless and everything a Coach would want. He’s a pleasure to work with.”

Next up for the Warriors, it’s a top of the table clash with local rivals St Helens at Magic Weekend in Newcastle. Don’t miss the action, with tickets still on sale. Get all the information HERE.
