Wigan and Leigh schools finals

  • Orrell St James’ recently hosted the second Wigan & Leigh school finals of the year.
  • Wigan Warriors Community Foundation were on hand to offer support to the schools rugby programme.
  • Congratulations to all the finalists who participated.

Orrell St James’ recently hosted an afternoon of Wigan & Leigh schools rugby finals. This year local school rugby has gone from strength to strength with more regular playing opportunities for all age groups. 

Wigan Warriors community foundation are committed to supporting all schools rugby programmes ranging from curriculum sessions, after school rugby development and team support at all rugby festivals. 

Finalists:

Year 7 – St Marie’s v St Edmund Arrowsmith 

Year 8 – Hawkley Hall v St Edmund Arrowsmith 

Year 9 – St John Fisher v Bedford 

Andy Duncalf, of Wigan and Leigh schools association said: “This is the second Wigan and Leigh Finals which has taken place this school year which ends what has been a very busy and productive year. The standard of Rugby in all the games was of the highest quality which is a credit to the players and teachers at each school. 

“We would like to thank Wigan Warriors Community foundation for supporting the event and Darrell Goulding for presenting the medals and trophies to each player. Final thanks go to Orrell St James’ for allowing the finals to be played on their pitches.
