James McDonnell, Sam Halsall and Umyla Hanley were in all in action for their loan and dual registration Clubs over the weekend.

On Friday night, James McDonnell was on the interchange bench as Leigh Centurions came away with a 58-4 win over Sheffield Eagles. The win sees Leigh three-points clear at the top of the Betfred Championship having won 15 out of 16 games in 2022.

Elsewhere, Newcastle got back to winning ways after a long string of defeats as they played out a 66-22 victory at home to Workington Town. Umyla Hanley started on the right wing for Thunder, whilst Sam Halsall was at left centre.

It was a great afternoon for the pair, with both getting on the scoresheet in the big win. Halsall went over in the 29th minute as he helped Newcastle into a 30-6 lead at the break, Hanley got in on the act with a 65th minute effort before Halsall went over twice in the closing 10 minutes to confirm his hat-trick and help Thunder to their first victory in five games, with a 66-22 win.
