International round-up

Six Warriors were in international action over the weekend with five representing England on the international stage, and one representing Wales.

England 18-4 Combined Nations All Stars

John Bateman and Liam Farrell were starting forwards for Shaun Wane’s England side who ran out 18-4 winners over Ellery Hanley’s Combined Nations All Stars on Saturday night.

Bateman was a key player on the night, breaking through to set up George Williams for a score in the first half, before adding an effort of his own in a great solo move in the second half. The performance earned him the Man of the Match accolades on the night in a promising performance ahead of the World Cup competition.

England Wheelchair 62-48 France Wheelchair

In the Wheelchair game, Wigan’s Adam Rigby, Declan Roberts and Martin Norris all featured as England beat top ranked France 62-48 on Sunday afternoon.

Roberts and Norris started the game, with Rigby on the interchange bench. Declan Roberts went over for a try and converted three scores for England in a thrilling and end-to-end game. The victory for England wheelchair confirmed that the English sides were three from three on the weekend with the Women’s, Men’s and Wheelchair sides all coming away with victory.

Wales Women 60-0 Italy Women

Finally, Carys Marsh was the starting hooker as Wales sailed to victory on home turf on Sunday afternoon to go top of the European Championship B North table.

A solid first half saw the Welsh side go 20-0 to the good, before running away with the fixture in the second half as Carys Marsh crashed over for a try in the 74th minute to help Wales on their way to an emphatic 60-0 win.
