International Round Up

  • Two Warriors Women in action on first weekend of Internationals.
  • Georgia Wilson started for England, with Carys Marsh at Interchange for Wales.
  • England Women 32-6 Wales Women.

Wigan Warriors Women’s Georgia Wilson and Carys Marsh came head-to-head on Sunday afternoon as England Women faced off against Wales Women at Pandy Park.

It was a much improved performance from the Welsh outfit, having fallen to a 60-0 defeat to the same opposition this time last year, the scoreline was far more fitting in an absorbing contest in South Wales.

Georgia Wilson started the game on the right wing and it was the right side that had all the early joy. England raced to a 20-0 lead on Welsh soil with a Fran Goldthorpe double, before Amy Hardcastle and Shona Hoyle also went over to extend the lead for the visitors.

Carys Marsh featured off the bench for the Welsh side, who did get one back on the hour mark in response to a further England effort from Tara Jones. Leanne Burnell finished off a great move for Wales, converted by Amberley Ruck for 26-6 in England’s favour.

It was a spirited effort from Wales, who continued to fight their corner and deny England opportunities but the away side did get a final effort on the board through Hollie Dodd in the dying minutes to confirm a 32-6 win for England.

Next up for England Women, they face France on Saturday 18th June, in the first of the England double header live on Sky Sports. Wales welcome Italy to Pandy Park on Sunday 19th June, with the Italian side also coming off the back of a loss to Ireland.
