300 juniors at St Pats festival

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation supported a Rugby League festival at Wigan St Patricks ARLFC last Friday.

Over 300 juniors from local amateur clubs attended the festival – made up of Under-7s, Under-8s and Under-9s teams.

The teams played fixtures throughout Saturday morning, which was followed by a medal presentation from Warriors Captain Tommy Leuluai and second row forward Kai Pearce-Paul.

The Challenge Cup was also in attendance, along with Mighty Max, with the chance for all juniors and families to have pictures taken with the trophy.

The morning action was followed by a open age charity match played in the afternoon between St Pats parents and St Pats Reserves team. The Club raised money for one of the Under-9s players, whose dad is currently fighting in the war in Ukraine.

Rugby Development Manager, Danny Fullerton, said: “Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are available to support all community clubs ambassadors with providing more playing opportunities throughout the year.

“Rachael Ward of Wigan St Pats has delivered a fantastic day of activities that included a junior rugby festival attended by 300 local juniors, open age fixture and a variety of entertainment on show to the rugby community.”

If your community club would like to host a festival, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation would like to offer our support in planning and attending the event. Please feel free to contact d.fullerton@wiganwarriors.com.
