Wigan Warriors Academy put on a twelve try display at home to London Broncos on Saturday to get their fourth win of the year.

It was a quick start for Wigan who were eager to keep the ball alive against the Broncos back line. A six again call just 10m away from the London goal line saw them in good position,a good drive from Harvie Hill got them just short before sending Junior Nsemba over for the opening score in the 2nd minute, converted for 6-0. Wigan extended their lead in the 9th minute as Jacob Douglas sold his defender short with a nice dummy to dart through and gap and get the score for 10-0.

In the blink of an eye Wigan extended their lead from the kick off, making some easy meters before sending Nsemba on his way from the half way line, he got the pass inside to Smithers who gave the return to Nsemba to cruise under the uprights and make it 16-0 with a converted score from Ratchford.

Nsemba completed a first half hat-trick as Wigan steamed up the pitch just short of half time. A looping pass to the wing saw Povall collect before cutting the pass inside for Nsemba to crash over and it was 20-0. On the stroke of half time, Beardsworth burst through the defensive line and raced half the length of the field to make it 26-0 going into the sheds.

The one way traffic continued into the second half, a scrum in Wigan’s favour close to the uprights allowed the Warriors to build pressure and Harvey Wilson added a nice solo effort as he glided through for a score, converted to give Wigan a 32-0 lead. Moments later Harry Smithers added his name to the scoresheet as he evaded a defender on the left wing to run away and extend the lead further to 38-0.

Maddox Jeffrey then went in for a quick fire brace, the first effort coming on the left wing as he timed his run right to score in the corner before a second effort saw him cut inside from the left to leave defenders on the floor and score closer to the sticks and one of the two efforts was converted for 48-0 with 20 minutes to play.

With plenty of joy from the back of the scrum following Broncos errors so far, Wigan got their reward from a head and feed once more in the 62nd minute as Harvie Hill bulldozed onto a ball to ease under the uprights for a converted score.

Shifting the ball with speed from left to right allowed the Warriors to send Reagan Sumner racing in at the right hand corner for 58-0. London Broncos managed to get a consolation try in the 72nd minute as a clever dart from dummy half by Jenson Binks allowed them over, the effort was converted.

Wigan finished off the proceedings though as they responded with a try from Joe Baldwin just before the full time hooter, the loose forward skipping a tackle before placing the ball down to confirm a deserved 64-6 win at Robin Park Arena.
