Cust: Important game

  • Cade Cust discussed life in Wigan so far, the Easter period and Warrington away as he spoke to the press earlier this week.
  • Cust: “When you come into a new team with new structures it takes some time to find your feet but I think I’ve made progress.”
  • Warrington Wolves v Wigan Warriors, Friday 29th April, 8pm K.O.

Cade Cust said this week’s tie is an ‘important game’ as Wigan look to continue a good run of form in the Betfred Super League.

On Warrington, he said: “I’m looking forward to it, we’ve just had a team meeting and we can’t wait to get out there and put our best foot forward. It’s an important game for us to keep going, keep working hard and progressing up the ladder.

“We have the derby with Saints whereas theirs is probably with us so I think they’ll bring it to us, we’re expecting a tough game, we’ve prepared that way but we’re looking forward to it.”

Cust reflected on playing three games in 11 days: “It was quite a shock to the body, we focused on a lot of recovery in between the games so the body is a bit sore during periods but we’re coming out of the end of it now and the couple of wins that we got out of it, we’re quite happy with how it went.”

The half was also asked about his time in Wigan so far: “Yeah it’s been really enjoyable so far. We’ve had a good start, sitting near the top in Super League and we’re in a Challenge Cup semi final next week so as a team we’re improving each week and we feel happy with how we’ve started so far.”

He added: “I think there’s always room for improvement. We haven’t put together a full 80-minute performance yet but we’ve shown glimpses, on the paddock we’re slowly progressing but we’re going ahead well so far in the season.”

Speaking on his own personal progression, Cust added: “When you come into a new team with new structures it takes some time to find your feet but I think I’ve made progress. With the history of Club I came over here with the ambition to win trophies first and foremost, anything individually is a bonus, but I wanted to come here and win.”
