  • Key speaker Lee Briers offered advice and skills on Coaching.
  • Over 150 Community Coaches in attendance.

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation recently hosted their latest Community Club Ambassadors invite event with Lee Briers in attendance as key speaker.

In the second event of the year, Community Club Ambassadors were invited to Robin Park Arena as Kris Radlinski hosted, with Lee Briers in attendance as key speaker alongside Head Coach Matt Peet.

The event saw Lee Briers address the Ambassadors about his career as a player, before his transition into being a Coach at Warrington, right through to become a coach here at Wigan Warriors. It was also an opportunity for Lee to offer his advice, whilst completing a Q&A session.

Following the seminar session in the Kingfisher Lounge, Lee Briers invited those in attendance onto the field for a practical session. The session allowed Lee to pass on some knowledge through skill drills, offering ideas for Coaches to take back to their Community Clubs.

Commenting on the day, Lee Briers said: “Wigan warriors Community Club Ambassadors programme is a fantastic free opportunity to all community coaches that are looking to develop and have an association with Wigan Warriors.

“I have really enjoyed being able to share my coaching journey along with some fresh coaching ideas with such an enthusiastic group of coaches that have travelled from all over the north of England. Educating Coaches is paramount to the future of our game and I’m looking forward to supporting this community program throughout 2022.”

One of the key aims of the Ambassadors programme is to provide access to a high quality Coach Development and to support coaches, volunteers and teachers own continuing professional development (CPD), each session is designed and delivered by Wigan Warriors Community foundation & First Team coaches and staff. The programme will provide club, school and academy coaches with increased knowledge and new ideas to help increase the standards in the junior and senior game

On the event, Scott Dickson, Head of Partnerships at Loch Lomond Whiskies, said: “It was a pleasure to attend and present Loch Lomond Whiskies to the Community Clubs event held at Robin Park Arena. It wonderful to see how much the Club support the Community and we are proud to be involved through ‘Spirit of the Warriors 2022 Community Hero Awards, in partnership with Loch Lomond Whiskies’.

“It was great to meet a couple of recipients of our Loch Lomond 12-year old bottles and look forward to meeting more winners in the future. We have worked with Wigan Warriors on some amazing limited editions and we have our own amazing range of spirits.”
